Using single- and double-sided DVD-RAM media

DVD-RAM media is available in single-sided and double-sided versions.

2.6GB and 4.7 GB versions are single-sided and are available in Type I or Type II cartridges. 5.2 GB and 9.4 GB versions are double-sided and are available in Type II cartridges. To access the data on both sides of the media, you must remove the cartridge from the drive, turn it over, and re-insert it in the drive. For convenience, double-sided cartridges are labeled side A and side B.

DVD-RAM Type II discs may be removed from the cartridge for use in DVD-ROM drives.

Using the tip of a ball point pen, push and break the lock pin tab . To remove the disc, use a ball point pen to push down on the cartridge lid lock

and pull the cartridge lid
