ThinkTank Manual

letters. Enter a “^“ just before and after the word or phrase to be capitalized, as in ^UNICEF^. (On the Apple II, you enter a caret by pressing SHIFT—N.)Neither caret is printed; the first is a signal to begin capitalizing and the second is a signal to end capitalizing. The “^" symbol is called an alternating (or toggle) command because it works in two direc- tions: it turns capitalization on if it’s off and off if it’s

on.

If you want ThinkTank to print a backslash, without recognizing it as a “shift” symbol, enter two (“\\“). Unfor— tunately there is no way you can get ThinkTank to print a caret on a computer that can’t display lowercase letters.

These special symbols are applicable only to “uppercase computers.” If your computer can display both upper— and lowercase letters, they have no special significance and Think— Tank will print them like any other character.
