STEP FOUR
If PPP Encapsulation is being used, a type of authentication should be chosen. This is done in the authentication
menu.

Parameter Description
Authentication Type
Local
uses the list of users defined in CONFIG=> SECURITY=>USERS=>A DD.
Server
uses either Radius or Tacacs to authenticate the user.
Remote
is when this interface is consi dered to be the user and the other end of the
connection performs the authenti cation
Username Applies when Authentication T ype is Remote. The username the rem ote device
expects to receive.
Password Applies when Authentication Type is Remote . The password the remote device
expects to receive.
Authentication Server Applies when
Authentication Type
is
Server
. Indicates that either a Radius or Tacacs
server is used for validation. The location and other paramet ers of the server must be
configured in CONFIG=> SECURIT Y. See section 4.3 of the CyROS R eference
Guide.
Authentication
Protocol Applies when
Authentication Type
is
Local
or
Server
. Either PAP or CHAP or both can
be used for authentication.
STEP FIVE
The parameters defined in the Routing Protocol and Traffic Control Menus should be set after reading chapters 9
and 12, respectively. It is probably best to complete the basic configuration of all router interfaces, then return to
the routing protocol and traffic control menus after general routing and traffic control strategies have been
defined.
