Low Oil Switch

The low oil indicator system is designed to prevent engine damage caused from insufficient engine oil. If the engine oil level drops below a preset level, the yellow LED low oil indicator light (Figure 47) illuminates and an oil switch will stop the engine.

If continuity is not measured, the switch is good.

If continuity is measured and the oil level is good, either the switch or the wiring is defective. Repair the wiring or replace the switch.

Reproduction

If the engine will not start and the low oil indicator is

illuminating, proceed as follows:

Check the oil level in the generator. If level is acceptable,

 

proceed to Step 2.

It is possible that the oil indicator float is stuck. Gently

 

rock the generator in a side-to-side mo ion to free the

 

float.

the control panel and disconnect the 10-pin connector
