Improving Print Quality

 

 

If this happens:

Your printout is faint,

 

• Print the Configuration page and make sure the press simulation is set correctly.

• Make sure the Print Mode setting matches the substrate you’re using and the

• Make sure your paper or other substrate is loaded with the printable side in the

 

 

correct orientation. The printable side should be face-down in the tray or front

 

 

manual feed slot; face-up in the rear manual feed slot.

 

 

• Make sure the substrate is not damp or damaged in any way.

 

 

• Run a cleaning cycle. See page 4-1 for instructions.

 

 

• Check the H ink out lights to see if one of the cartridges is low on ink or empty;

 

 

then replace the cartridge. See page 4-3 for instructions.

 

 

• Align the print head. See page 1-15 for instructions.

 

 

 

Your printout is smeared.

 

• If you’re printing on thick paper in the paper tray, make sure you set the media

 

 

type lever to Thick Paper. If you’re feeding thick paper manually, follow the

 

 

instructions on page 2-7.

 

 

• If you’re printing on glossy film or similar substrates, make sure you use a

 

 

support sheet or sheet of plain paper under the paper stack. Don’t load more

 

 

than 30 sheets of glossy film in the tray.

 

 

• If ink has leaked inside the printer, carefully clean it following the instructions

 

 

on page 4-7.
