Installation of the Healthy Home System™ Control (HHSC)
Choose a Location
TheHH SC controllercan be installed anywhere in your
home.To simplify the installation, locate the HHSC control
nearthe HV AC system and/or the HRV/ERV, since the
HHSC does not require routine adjustmentor occupant
interaction.
Toprovide the occupants with direct access to the functions
of the controls, installoptional accessory controls
throughoutthe house.
How To Install the Controller
1. Separatethe HHSC controllercover from the wall plate
(mountingbase) to exposemounting holes
(seeillustration).
2. Routewires throughlarge hole in the mounting base.
Mountbase againstwall and mark wallthrough
3mounting holes.
3. If mountingon a metal or wood surface, drill three 1/8-in.
pilotholes in wall where marked for thesupplied
mountingscrews. If mountingon drywall or other
surface, drill appropriateholes for wall anchorsor other
meansof attachment.
4. Securemounting base to wall with either the 3 screws
providedor otherfasteners, while ensuring thatall wires
extendthrough the hole in mounting base.
5. Adjustlength and routing of each wire to reach the
properterminal and connector block onmounting base,
whileleaving a 1/4 in. length of extra wire. Strip only
1/4in. of insulationfrom each wire to prevent adjacent
wires fromshorting together when connected.
6. Connectwires totheir respective terminals on the
connectorblock. (Figure 1) Both (R) and (C) must be
connectedfor proper operation.Improper wiring or
installationmay damage the controller. Ensure wiring is
correctbefore proceeding with installationor turning the
uniton.
7. Push any excess wire into walland against mounting
base.
8. Snapcover onto base, w hileensuring pins align with
socketsin connector.
9. Oncepowered theHHSC automaticallyenters into
operatingmode.
Complete the Wiring Connections
1. Referto subsequent wiring diagrams in this manual
thatcorrespond to the desired control configuration.
NOTE:Disregard any wiring schematic(s) included with the
HHSC Control InstallationInstructions that do not pertain to
HRV/ERV control. TheHHSC is also typically used to
controlan F AD fresh air damper.
2. Completeall wiring connections before restoring power
tothe HVAC system and HRV/ERV.
Programming the HHSC Control
1. Balancethe fresh and stale airflows as instructed in this
manual.
2. Determine the cfm flow rate as instructed in this manual.
3.To obtainthe desired rate of fresh air exchange, refer to
theHHSC ControlInstallation Instructions todetermine
theOn/Off timersettings for the HHSC Control.Use the
cfmflow rate determined in step 2 as the computed or
measuredfresh airflow rate(as calculatedin the HHS C
instructions). Toensure adequateventilation, ensure that
the“Fan On” timeis equal to or greater than the “Vent
On” time, as programmed in the HHSC Control.
4. Fo r continuousoperation of the HRV/ERV, set
“FanOn” and“Vent On” to “Un” (unlimited), and “Fan
Off” and “VentOff” toany setting except “Un”. This
settingalso causes the HVAC fan to run continuously.
NOTE: TheHHSC Controlis factoryprogrammed with the
defaultsettings of thetwo On/Offtimer values. No
configurationis required to use thesefactory default
settings.
Default settings:
FAN OFF 20minutes
FAN ON 10minutes
VENT ON 10minutes
VENT OFF 20minutes
