13.1 Troubleshooting
In the eventthat the dr y-wellappears to function abnor mally,this section
may help tofind and solve the problem. Several possible problem condi-
tions are described along with likely causes and solutions.If a problem
arises, please read this section carefully and attempt to understand and
solve the problem.If the dry-well seems faulty or the problem cannot
otherwise be solved, contact Hart Scientific Customer Service for assis-
tance (1-801-763-1600).Be sure to have the instrument model number,
serial number,and voltage available.
Problem Causesand Solutions
Incorrecttemperature reading Powerthe unit on and watch the display. If the first number displayed is
lessthan “ ”,the unit has been re-initialized. The unit needs to be
re-programmedfor R0, ALPHA, and DELTA. These numbers can be found on
theReport of Calibration that was shipped with the unit.
Thedisplay is off Checkthe fuses.
Checkthat the power cord is plugged in and connected to the unit.
RedLED on display is blank Checkthat there is power to the unit.
Theunit heats slowly Checkthe Scan and Scan Rate settings. The Scan may be on with the Scan
Rateset low.
An“ ”or“” is displayed at the
leftof the display
Theexternal switch is open causing the displayed temperature to be frozen
andkeeping the set-point from scanning. Turn the Switch Test off by press-
ingthe “DOWN” button on the front panel.
If the display flashes
any error code
Initializethe system by performing the Master Reset Sequence.Ifthe
unitrepeats the error code, contact a Hart Scientific Authorized Customer
ServiceCenter for a return authorization and for instructions on returning
theunit.
MasterReset Sequence:
Holdthe “SET” and “EXIT” keys down at the same time while powering up
theunit. The screen will display ” ”,the instrument model number
andthe version of the software. The unit will need to be reprogrammed for
R0,ALPHA, and DELTA in the calibration menu. These numbers can be
foundon the Report of Calibration that was shipped with the unit.
Ifthe display flashes “ ”
or“ ”
Thesensor is disconnected or shorted. Please contact Hart Scientific Cus-
tomerSupport for further instructions.

Thesoftware cut-out is set to low. Check the cut-out setting in the Set-point
menu.
