Quickstart
ProHD DR-HD100 Portable DTE Recorder 31
Series Record and Split Slave Control Modes
Two additional control modes are available when the DR-HD100
is teamed up with the JVC GY-HD100/101 camcorder: Series
Record and Split Slave. To access these control modes, select
either Series or Split mode from the GY-HD100/101 camcorder’s
1394 REC TRIGGER menu. The DR-HD100 must be in JVC GY-HD
mode for these modes to function, see “JVC GY-HD” on page30.
Series Record
Series Record automatically starts recording to disk when a tape is close
to the end of the record session. For more information about what
happens once recording to disk begins, refer to the camcorder
documentation.
Split Slave
In Split Slave mode, the GY-HD100/101 camcorder controls the DR-
HD100 separately from the camcorder’s tape transport. The DR-HD100
is slaved to the camcorder’s REC TRIGGER button, located on the
GY-HD100/101’s left panel.
Every time the Rec Trigger is pressed, the DR-HD100 begins
recording in the selected recording mode.
When the Rec Trigger is pressed again, the DR-HD100 enters
REC/PAUSE mode. The only exception is if it is in Retro
Record mode.
Pressing the Rec Trigger a third time, restarts recording. A
new track is created on the disk. Refer to camcorder
documentation for more information.
GY-HD100 OTHERBACK SPACE[HDV] Setting
When using this mode, be certain to set the GY-HD100/101’s
OTHERBACK SPACE[HDV] menu to P-1394.
With this setting there is a slightly delayed response to the record
trigger. However, when OTHERBACK SPACE[HDV] is set to P-
TAPE, the stream that the DR-HD100 records will contain
discontinuities at every point that recording to tape is initiated. This will
result in the loss of content.
