NOTE: Regional Radar Precipitation data cannot be displayed at the same time as terrain.
FIS-BregionalradarprecipitationisbasedonWSR-88D,orNEXRAD(NEXt-generationRADar),anetwork
ofhigh-resolutionDoppler radarsystemsthat areoperatedby theNationalWeatherService (NWS). The
maximumrange of a single NEXRAD radar site is 250 nm.  In addition to a wide array of services, the
NEXRADnetworkprovidesimportantinformationaboutsevereweatherandairtrafcsafety.
Radarprecipitationdataisnotreal-time.Thelapsedtimebetweencollection,processing,anddissemination
ofcomposite radarimagescan besignicant andmaynot reectthe currentradarsynopsis. Due tothe
inherentdelaysand therelativeage ofthedata, itshouldbe usedfor long-rangeplanningpurposes only.
NeveruseNEXRADdataoranyradardatatopenetratehazardousweather.Rather,useitinanearly-warning
capacityofpre-departureandenrouteevaluation.
