Getting Started

Cable Connections

A) Without a Converter / Descrambler Box

Use this connection if your cable system connects directly to your TV/VCR Combination without a converter box.

With this connection, you can:

1)use your TV/VCR Combination remote control to select channels.

2)program one or more unscrambled channels for timer recording.

NOTE:

￿You can use the TV/VCR Combination Channel Up/ Down keys to select the desired channel.

￿You cannot record or view scrambled channels with this connection.

Note to CATV System Installer

This reminder is provided to call the CATV (Cable TV) System Installers attention to Article 820-40 of the NEC that provides guidelines for proper grounding and, in particular, specifies that the cable ground shall be connected to the grounding system of the building, as close to the point of cable entry as practical.

B) With a Converter/ Descrambler Box

If your cable service supplies you with a converter box, you can use the basic connection shown here.

With this connection, you can record and view any channel including scrambled channels. However, channel selection must be made at the cable company converter box. This means that channels cannot be changed using the TV/VCR Combination remote control. Timer recording is limited to one channel at a time, and you cannot view another channel other than the one you are recording.

To Record and View a Scrambled / Unscrambled Channel

1.Set the TV/VCR Combination channel selector to the output channel of the cable converter box (e.g. CH3).

2.Select the channel to be recorded at the cable converter box.

Note: Refer to page 11 for instructions on setting tuner to the cable TV mode.
