Fuel valve OFF Turn fuel valve ON (page9)
Throttle lever in wrong position Move throttle lever to CHOKE position,
unless the engine is warm (page 16).
Out of fuel Refuel (page 38)
Bad fuel; mower stored without treating or
draining gasoline, or refueled with bad gasoline
Drain fuel tank and carburetor (page 42).
Refuel with fresh gasoline (page 38).
Spark plug faulty, fouled, or improperly gapped Check gap, or replace spark plug (page36)
Spark plug wet with fuel (flooded engine) Dry and reinstall spark plug. Start engine
with throttle lever in FAST position.
Fuel filter clogged, carburetor malfunction,
ignition malfunction, valves stuck, etc.
Take mower to an authorized Honda
servicing dealer for repair

Throttle not set to FAST Move throttle to FAST (page18)
Grass too tall to cut Raise cutting height (page 11), cut narrower
swath (page 24), use a slower ground speed,
or cut more frequently
Mower deck clogged Clean out mower deck
Air filter clogged Clean or replace air filter (page 35)
Bad fuel; mower stored without treating or
draining gasoline, or refueled with bad gasoline
Drain fuel tank and carburetor (page 42).
Refuel with fresh gasoline (page 38).

Grass and debris lodged under mower deck Clean out mower deck (page 25)
Blades loose, bent, damaged, or unbalanced
by improper sharpening
Tighten loose blades bolts. If blades are found
to be bent or damaged, take the lawn mower
to an authorized Honda servicing dealer for
inspection.
Mechanical damage, such as a bent
crankshaft
Take mower to an authorized Honda servicing
dealer for repair
