8.7 Management Engine Functions

The management engine function of Intel AMT allows a system unit to be managed remotely over a network, whether or not the system is powered up or not1. The system BIOS can request the management engine to generate the following alerts:

■Temperature alert

■Fan failure alert

■Chassis intrusion alert

■Watchdog timer alert

■No memory installed alert

1.Assumes the unit is connected to an active AC outlet.
