Operation Notes

Usage

You can enter this command from a session, a job, a program, or in break mode. Any user can enter this command; ho wever the user's capabilities determine which les the user can alter, prin t, or delete.

Altering private spool les

With certain limitations, y ou can alter private spool les. You can only use the PRI, DEFER, UNDEFER, and DELETE parameters. If y ou have system manager (SM) capabilit y, you can also use the DEV parameter.

Problem state spool les

You can use the ALTER option on problem state spool les to alter the device attribute so that the spool le becomes ready again. Generally , the spool le is in the problem state because the target device of the spool le is in valid.

Example

To change the priority of all output spool les to 8 and sho w the results, enter:
