NAME

ipcrm - remove a message queue, semaphore set, or shared memory identi®er

SYNOPSIS

ipcrm [option]...

DESCRIPTION

The ipcrm command removes one or more speci®ed message queue, semaphore set, or shared memory identi®ers.

Options

The identi®ers are speci®ed by the following options:

-mshmid Remove the shared memory identi®er shmid from the system. The shared memory segment and data structure associated with it are destroyed after the last detach.

-qmsqid Remove the message queue identi®er msqid from the system and destroy the message queue and data structure associated with it.

-ssemid Remove the semaphore identi®er semid from the system and destroy the set of semaphores and data structure associated with it.

-Mshmkey Remove the shared memory identi®er, created with key shmkey, from the system. The shared memory segment and data structure associated with it are destroyed after the last detach.

-Qmsgkey Remove the message queue identi®er, created with key msgkey, from the system and destroy the message queue and data structure associated with it.

-Ssemkey Remove the semaphore identi®er, created with key semkey, from the system and destroy the set of semaphores and data structure associated with it.

The details of the removals are described in msgctl(2), shmctl(2), and semctl(2). The identi®ers and keys can be found by using ipcs (see ipcs(1)).
