4: Installing the Motherboard

This chapter covers preparing the motherboard for in- stallation, installing the board in a system housing or “chassis” and installing or connecting other internal system components.

There are a number of important topics in this chapter and we strongly urge that you review it before attempting to install the motherboard.

Pre-installation Preparation

Before you install the motherboard you will need to do the following:

Install a 478-pin Intel Pentium 4 CPU

Install DDR DIMM system memory modules

Both of these require specific procedures that you must follow precisely to insure that the components are successfully installed and work properly. Please review the instructions in this section in detail and follow them care- fully. The procedures are not complex.
