Teaching FTG Configuration to a TV

This section describes how to transfer (Teach) an FTG Configuration file from a USB memory device to a TV using the USB Download Menu “Teach To TV (TLX)” option. The FTG Configuration file may be created either in the FTG File Manager or from a Master TV Setup that was saved (Learned) from a Master TV. Refer to “Creating an FTG Configuration File” on pages 42 to 43 for information on creating an FTG Configuration file using the FTG File Manager.

Before You Begin

Ensure the USB device has been formatted with FAT format.

If the EZ-Manager Wizard appears on the screen when you turn ON the Target TV, you can use the wizard’s “USB Configuration” option to access the USB Download Menu and complete the Teaching process (see “TV Configuration Options” and/or “USB Configuration” on pages 14 and 18, respectively, as necessary).

You may also use the LG Smart Install utility to complete the Teaching process. See “LG Smart Install Utility” on pages 20 to 21 for further information.

If the Target TV is currently in Pass-through Mode and you intend to use the TV’s Zoning feature(s)—i.e., the FTG Configuration file you are Teaching contains an FTG Channel Map and/or FTG profile(s) with TV Zone and/or Wi-Fi Zone assignments—make sure to assign the appropriate TV Zone # and/or Wi-Fi Zone # in the TV when directed to do so in the procedure below. See Reference section, “Using the TV’s Zoning Features,” for further information.

If the FTG Configuration file contains an FTG Channel Map that was created in the FTG File Manager, each logical channel number in the FTG Channel Map has been assigned a physical RF channel or an Aux input (the latter designated by 130-0 through 137-0—see also Reference section, “TV Aux Input Configuration”). If the FTG Configuration file contains an FTG Channel Map that was Learned from a TV, the physical RF channels in the FTG Channel Map have been assigned logical channel numbers (See “Learning FTG Configuration from a TV” on page 46 to 47.

If the FTG Configuration file was created in the FTG File Manager, it may contain multiple zoned FTG Installer Menu profiles for different TV models. Make sure it includes the appropriate Installer Menu profile(s) for the Target TV(s) before Teaching.

Caution: Do not unplug the TV power cord or remove/disconnect the USB memory device while Teaching, as doing so may cause the TV to malfunction or harm the USB device, respectively.

Teach FTG Configuration to Target TV

1.Turn ON the Target TV.

2.The next step depends on whether the EZ-Manager Wizard appears on the screen when you turn ON the TV:

If the wizard is displayed, you can complete the Teaching process via the wizard, as indicated above (see “Before You Begin”). However, to continue with this procedure and access the “Teach to TV (TLX)” option from the TV menus, exit the wizard. Then, continue with step 3.

If the wizard is not displayed, go directly to step 3.
