Beat Detection Style
Torq attempts to determine the tempo and pha se of a song when you load it into a Deck. Coaxing a comp uter to “hear”
the tempo of a song is partially ar t and science—this preference is he re to assist when the science fails.
In the Beat Detection Style me nu, you will find a list of various musical styl es/genres. Choosing one of the styles will te ll
Torq to alter its analysis algorithm for all future file an alysis. Choosing a matching style will gre atly improve the accuracy
of Torq’s beat detection.
For example, if you have “House” selected he re and attempt to analyze a group of Drum & B ass tracks, the analysis will
return the incorrect tempo (it will be too sl ow). Set this preference to “Drum & Bass” then re -analyze the affected file s.
Those files will now be analyzed with the p roper tempo.
Beat Detection Limits
You can further fine-tune the beat-de tection by setting your own upper and lower limit s for the BPM. Once set, Torq will
ensure that all analyzed BPMs ret urn within the specified tempo range .
Note: Whenever you set your own upper and lower BPM limits , the Beat Detection Style wil l automatically be changed to
“Custom”.
