Dial-Up Networking

Before you can connect to the Internet, you must set up a remote-node client program, known as Dial-Up Networking in Windows. Dial-Up Networking establishes your connection to your ISP’s (Internet Service Provider) server, which is the shared computer that manages calls from clients (your computer and other clients’ computers) to the Internet. Most, if not all, Windows browsers start Dial-Up Networking automatically when you open them after you have setup your PC for Dial-Up Networking.

Many ISPs provide a program that will install and configure Dial-Up Networking automatically for you. If this program was not provided, contact your ISP for instructions. You can also find Dial-Up Networking information in your Windows operating system online help or printed documentation.
