Special7-core Microphone Cable Material for Use with Booms on

Casters

All Neumann microphone cables available hitherto use countetwound twist braiding for screening. This
affords a particularly high (95%) degree of coverage, providing very good HF screening with excellent
flexibillty.
When used on caster-mounted booms, microphone cables are subjected to high stress by being rapidly
wound around relatively small casters, with the result that the twist braiding may be unduly displaced.
This may lead to cable deformation and subsequent line faults.
A new cable has therefore been developed which uses “Reusen” mesh for screening instead oftwist
braiding. This makes it intrinsically slightly less flexible than the material offered hithetto, but on the other
hand it is unaffected by heavy bending and twisting Stresses, and is not subject to deformation. The
degree of screening coverage is 90%. As a 7-core cable, it is especially suitable for boom Operation with
the RSM 191 stereo shotgun microphone; naturally it tan also be used for 3-core XLR connections.
Order No. Cable material 83455 01580, 7-core, mesh screening
Made-up cables equipped with this material have an additional G in their designation.
