1Aim the AF area at the subject, an d then press the shutter button hal fway to fix the
focus and exposure.
2Press and hold t he shutter button halfway while moving the cam era as you
compose the pictur e.
•You can repeatedly retry the actions in step 1
before pressing the shutter button fully.

detection function when taki ng pictures of

∫Subjects and recording conditions
which are difficult to focus
•Fast-moving subjects, extremely bright subjects or subjects without contrast
•When the recordable range display has appeared in red.
•When recording subjects thr ough windows or near shiny obj ec ts
•When it is dark or when jitte r occurs
•When the camera is too close to the s ubject or when taking a picture of bo th distant and near
subjects
When the jitter alert [ ] appears, use [STABILIZER] (P65), a tripod or the self- timer
(P41).
•Shutter speed will be slower particularly in the following cases. Keep the camera still from the
moment the shutter button is pre ssed until the picture appea rs on the screen. We recommend
using a tripod.
–Slow sync./Red-eye reduction
–In [NIGHTPORTRAIT], [NIGHT SCENERY], [PARTY], [CANDLELIGHT], [STARRYSKY] or
[FIREWORKS] in sce ne mode (P44)
–When the shutter speed is slowed in [MIN. SHTR SPEED]
