About [ƒ]
You can focus on the subject more quickl y t han in other AF modes.
The picture may stop movi ng for a moment before being bro ught into focus when you pres s the
shutter button halfway. This is not a malf unction.
Setting up [ ] (AF Trac k ing)
Note
Dynamic tracking function may fail to lock, l o se the subj ec t in AF trac ki n g, or trac k different
subject depending on the re co rding conditions such as the ones below.
When the subject is too small
When the recording location is too dark
When the subject is moving too fas t
When the background has the sam e or similar color to the subject.
When jitter is occurring
When using the zo om
If it fails to lock, AF area will flas h in red, and disappear. Press 4 again.
AF Tracking will not operate when t he subject is not specified, the su bject is lost, or has failed
to be tracked. The picture will be taken with [Ø] in [AF MODE] in that case.
[QUICK AF] will not operate during AF tracking.
It is not pos sible to se t [ ] in [STARRY SKY] , [FIREWORK S], [PIN HOL E], [FILM GR AIN], or
in the motion pict ure mode.
It is not possible to set [ ] in [B/W], [SEPIA], [COOL], or [WARM] in [COLORMODE].
The focus range becomes the s ame as macro mode. [5 cm (0.17 feet) (Wide)/1 m (3.2 8 feet)

As long as the camera i s held steady, the camera will au tomatically adjust the fo cus and
focus adjustment will then be qu icker when the sh utter is pressed . This is useful at times
when, for instan ce, you do not want to miss a picture-taking oppor tunity.

Note
When [ON] is set, [ ] is displayed on the screen.
It does not operate during A F tra cking.

Pictures are taken continuously while the shutter button is pres sed.
Select the ones you really like from among the pictures you have taken.

1Bring the subject to the AF tracking
frame, and press 4 to lock the subject
AF tracking frame will continuously focus on
the subject's movement once th e su bject is
recognized.
AF tracking is turned off when 4 is pressed
again.
