Glossary
In addition to Audio data, CD-EXTRA also has CD-ROM
data. Audio data is stored on the inner tracks and CD-ROM
data on the outer tracks.
It bears one of the following logos.
BIOS
Basic Input Output System. The BIOS is a fundamental part
of the software that controls the floppy disk drive, hard disk
drive, keyboard and other hardware. It is normally
preinstalled.
CD-EXTRA
Compact Disc Recordable. Once data is written to it, the
data cannot be erased or rewritten. Depending on the
writing mode, it may be possible to write additional data in
available disc space afterwards.
CD-R
Compact Disc ReWritable. Data written to a CD-RW can be
deleted, either in its entirety or for the last session.
CD-RWs are rewritable.
CD-RW
Digital Versatile Disc. A DVD is the same size as a CD, but
has a data capacity 7 times larger than that of a CD-ROM.
DVD
DVD-RAM is one DVD standard. Removable disc that can
be read or written repeatedly.

Buffer Under Run
or
Buffer Under Run Error
Buffer Under Run occurs when drives buffer memory
becomes empty for an instant while writing to a disc.
Writing becomes interrupted and writing error occurs.
Disc at Once Records all the data selected onto a single disc at one time.
Additional data can not be written to disc afterwards.
DVD-Video is one DVD specification. DVDs used for
movies and home videos have this specification. It is
possible to have soundtrack and subtitles in other
languages, or a function to allow switching between camera
angles.
