INTRODUCTION
Communications Modem An internal modem provides capability for data and fax
communication. It supports V.90 and V.92. (In the U.S. and
Canada, both standards are supported; in other countries/
regions, only V.90 is supported.) The speed of data
transfer and fax depends on analog telephone line
conditions. It has a modem jack for connecting to a
telephone line. It is preinstalled as a standard device in
some markets. Refer to Appendix E for technical informa-
tion.
LAN The computer has built-in support for Ethernet LAN (10
megabits per second, 10BASE-T) and Fast Ethernet LAN
(100 megabits per second, 100BASE-Tx).
Wireless LAN Some computers in this series are equipped with a wireless
LAN mini-PCI card that is compatible with other LAN
systems based on Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum/
Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing radio
technology that complies with the IEEE802.11 Standard
(Revision A or B) and Turbo Mode. Revision-A supports a
data transfer rate up to 54Mbit/s. Revision-B supports a data
transfer rate up to 11Mbit/s. Turbo Mode supports a data
transfer rate up to 108Mbit/s.
SecuritySecurity lock slot Connects an optional security lock to anchor the computer
to a desk or other large object.
SoftwareStandard Windows XP Home Edition/Professional operating system
and TOSHIBA Utilities and drivers preinstalled on the hard
disk.
Plug and Play When you connect an external device to the computer,
Plug and Play capability enables the system to recognize
the connection and make the necessary configurations
automatically.
