■ Entering note events from scratch...................................................................................
This section explains how to step-record notes, using three specific examples.
1Set the parameters below in sequence.
2Play the keys C, D, E, F, G, A, B and C in order, as specified in the example.
3Move the cursor to the beginning of the song by pressing the [TOP] button, and press
the SONG [START/STOP] button to hear the newly entered notes.
Example 1
Determines the velocity (loudness) of the note to be entered.
Here, we’ll select “mf,” as specified in the example.

Sets the Gate Time, or the length of the note (as a percent-
age). Here, we’ll select “Tenuto,” as specified in the example.

The gate time (note length)
can be set to any desired per-
centage by using the [DATA
ENTRY] dial.
Use these buttons to set the "size" or "resolution"
of the current recording step time for the next
note to be entered. Here, we’ll set the resolution
to a 1/4 note, as specified in the example.
