The timer is reset whenever input is received from the host (DTE). On expiry of this timer the modem will terminate the packet and forward it to the network.
NOTE: If the setting is very low and manual typing is used to enter data, then access to the escape sequence (TIES) may be lost. See Section 6.6.3.2 for details.

Sets the maximum length of the packet assembly buffer. When input reaches this length, the packet is terminated and forwarded to the CDPD network.

This value is the data content exclusive of headers. UDP adds 28 bytes of header. TCP adds 40 bytes of header. Long packet buffers may be fragmented into smaller IP packets if required by network router limitations. If this happens, it is transparent to the user.
