Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) protection should be provided on the circuit(s) or outlet(s) to be used for the hedge trimmer. Receptacles are available having built-in GFCI protection and may be used for this measure of safety.

Inspect extension cords periodically and replace if damaged. Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil or grease.

Use non-slip, heavy-duty protective gloves when operat- ing the hedge trimmer and when installing or removing blades.

Always stop the motor and disconnect from power sup- ply when not in use, before attempting to remove any obstruction caught or jammed in the blade, or before removing and installing the blade.

Replace any blade that has been damaged. Always make sure blade is installed correctly and securely fastened be- fore each use. Failure to do so can cause serious injury.

Never cut any material over 3/8 in. diameter.
