OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
DECORATIVE TRIMMING
Decorative trimming is accomplished by removing all vegetation around trees, posts, fences, etc.
Rotate the whole unit so that the cutting attachment is at a 30° angle to the ground (Fig. 19).
OPERATING THE FLAIL HEAD
Your unit can be equipped with a Flail Head that is better suited for use on thick grass and weeds (Fig. 20).
Fig. 19
WARNING: The cutting attachment shield must be installed when operating either the cutting attachment or flail head.
Fig. 20
Before operating the unit with the Flail Head stand in the operating position (Figs. 20). Refer to Holding the Trimmer, Pg. 14.
WARNING: To avoid serious personal injury and damage to the unit, do not use the flail head assembly for decorative trimming or cutting brush.
Flail Head Operating Tips:
To establish a rhythmic cutting procedure:
•Plant feet firmly, comfortably apart.
•Bring the engine to full throttle before entering the material to be cut. The blade has maximum cutting power at full throttle and is less likely to bind, stall, or cause blade thrust, which can result in serious per- sonal injury to the operator or others.
