OPERATION

 

 

Meter Resolution

Thetransfergraphandthecompressorpeak meters( ￿)workwithdifferentresolutionsto accommodatesignalswithawidedynamic range. Theresolutionforthepeakmetersandtransfer graphcanbesetinfixedstepsof20dB,40dB and80dB,oralternatively,toauto.Inauto mode,thedisplayswitchestothenextstepas soonasthetransfergraphfallsbelowthecur rentwindow.Thepeakmetersresolutionisal waysthesameasthetransfergraph’s.

Thesameprincipleappliestothegainreduction metersofthecompressor( ￿)andthesafety

limiter( ￿). Toadjustgainreductionorpeakmeterresolu tion,pressthe„menu“key( ￿),thenchose “system”andthenpressthe„display“softkey. ThenusekeysAandBtoselecteither„gain reduction“or„curve“tochangetheresolutionof thecorrespondinggraphs.Usethegain/data controller( ￿)toaltervalues.

LCD Contrast

Tochangethedisplaycontrast,pressthe “menu”key( ￿),then“system,then“display”. PresskeyDtoactivate„LCDContrast“.Adjust contrastwiththegain/dataencoder.

Whilebypassisactive(keyislit),theDS1MK3

worksinpreviewmode.Thisallowsyouto changeparameterswithoutactuallyaffectingthe audiosignal.

Remote Control

Allbandparametersaswellascontrolsettings canbesetexternally. Toseeremotecontrolstatusrefertothestatus

display( ￿,seeStatusDisplayp.7).

Protocol

Toselectaremotecontrolprotocol,presskeyC

fromthestatusdisplaymenu.Selecteither“RS

232”,“RS422”or“MIDI”.Thiswilldetermine

whichportattherearoftheDS1MK3isactive.

Theotherinactiveportswillbeignored.

Pressthe“menu”keytoreturntothestatus

displayifyoudonotwanttochangeremoteon/

offstatus.

WhenselectingaportotherthanMIDIyouhave tospecifythebaudrate.Refertotheremote controlsoftwaremanualforcorrectsettings.The setbaudrateisdisplayedtoensureproperset up.

Channel

Tochangetheremotecontrolchannelnumber,

presskeyC(adjacenttotheremotecontrol field).Usethegain/datacontroller( ￿)to selectavaluebetween1and16.Pressthe “menu”keytoreturntothestatusdisplay.Omni mode(listeningonallchannelssimultaneously) isnotsupported.

On/ Off

Toenableordisableremotecontrol,presskeyC (adjacenttotheremotecontrolfield).Pressit againtotogglethe“ON/OFF”value.

Whileremotecontrolisoff,datawillstillbesen t totheselectedport.Also,theMIDITHRUoutput willalwaysmirrortheMIDIINinputdataregard lessof“ON/OFF”orprotocolstatus.

Bypass

TheDS1MK3canbecompletelybypassedwith

thegreen“bypass”keybelowthemainsswitch.

Ifthe“bypass”keyislit,theDS1MK3isabso

lutelytransparent,makingtheoutputsignalbit

equaltotheinputsignal.However,theoverall

delay(seechapterDelay)isstillactive.
