The RTN, RTNR and RTH are designed to accomo- date up to 6 blades per flange if desired.

4-4 SL IP CLUTC H OPERATIONA L CHECK

(IMPORTANT: Also refer to page 17)

After tiller has been stored for 30 days or more, perform the following operational check:

A. Loosen eight nu ts retaining cl utch spri ngs exactly one full turn.

B. With tiller blades firmly on ground and tractor at idle speed, engage tractor PTO drive for 2-3 sec- onds. Clut ch should slip without t urning blades. If clutch does not s lip, contac t your authorized B ush Hog dealer.

C. Retighten nuts to within 1/64” oforiginalposition. Initial spring length is1-3/32”(27.6mm).(Figure 4-3)

4-5 SLIP CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT

(IMPORTANT: Also refer to page 17)

The slip clutch is fact ory preset to the correct torque

for pro tecting implement and tractor.

Perio dic

adjustment is r ecommended; refer to Section 4-4.

Should adjustment be needed, fi rst check to be sure all spring lengths are w ithin 1/64” of being the same. Initial spring length is 1-3 /32” (27.6mm) show n in Figure 4-3. I f necessary, l oosen nut on any spring that is unequal. Adjust al l eight spring re taining nuts 2/3 of a turn (2 flat s on a nut) and check clutch slip- page. If further adjustment is necessary, do so in 1/3 turn inc rements or c onsult y our Bus h Ho g dealer. Adjust only to provide sufficient torque to prevent slip- page unde r n ormal condition s. When rocks, roots, etc. are present, occasional slippage is normal for dri- vetrain protection.

4-6 RTN CHAIN ADJUSTMENT(Figure 4-4)

A. Turn tr actor off and set par king brake before making chain adjustment.

B. Block up tiller by placing wooded block under- neath the skids.

WARNING

THE TILLER CAN FALL FROM HYDRAULIC SYSTEM FAILURE. TO AVOID SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH, SECURELY SUPPOR T TI LLER BEFORE WORKING UNDERNEATH

C. The drive chain on the Model RTN, RTNR ti ller is preset with the correct chain t ension when it leaves the fa ctory. Af ter a n exte nded per iod of us e the chain will w ear and i t will b e nece ssary to make adjustment to the chain through the chain adjusting bolt located on the outside of the chain case.

D. Measure the initial length of the ch ain tension fastener before beginning. Rotate t he bolt clockwise to t ighten t he c hain t ension bolt to remove excess motion of th e chain. Only s mall increments o f bolt turns should be made, then li sten for the amount of lost motion in the chain. To much chain ten sion and the rotor will be difficult to rotate.

DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE CHAIN TENSIONER. PREMATURE FAILURE CAN OCCUR TO T HE CHAIN OR BEARING IF OVERTIGHTENED.

RTNR, RTH, RTN specifications

Bush Hog is a name synonymous with durable and efficient land management equipment, especially known for their rotary cutters and mowers. Among their impressive line-up, the Bush Hog RTNR, RTN, and RTH series stand out as robust solutions for farmers, landscapers, and property owners who require reliable performance for managing grass and brush in various terrains.

The Bush Hog RTNR series is specifically engineered for larger tractors, providing a cutting width of up to 15 feet, making it ideal for expansive fields and meadows. This series boasts a unique design that allows for efficient grass and brush cutting while ensuring that the operator can maintain control over the machine in challenging environments. The RTNR models feature heavy-duty construction, with reinforced frames and high-strength steel components, ensuring longevity and resistance against wear and tear.

The RTN series is designed for lighter-duty applications, ideal for compact and utility tractors. With cutting widths ranging from 4 to 7 feet, these models strike a perfect balance between size and maneuverability, making them suitable for residential properties, parks, and smaller agricultural landscapes. The RTN series incorporates advanced technologies such as a quick-change blade system, enabling operators to replace blades with ease, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.

On the other hand, the RTH series focuses on versatility and operator comfort. These models are equipped with innovative features such as adjustable cutting heights, allowing users to select the best height for their specific mowing needs. The RTH series also includes a floating deck design, which enhances ground-following capabilities, resulting in a more even cut across uneven terrain.

In terms of technology, all three series incorporate precision-engineered gearboxes and drivetrains, ensuring smooth operation even under heavy loads. The machines are designed with safety features like shielded drive components and access panels for easy maintenance without compromising safety.

In summary, the Bush Hog RTNR, RTN, and RTH series present an outstanding array of features tailored to meet diverse mowing requirements.
