Can I daisy-chain a 100Mbps hub to the 140T hub with UTP cabling?

Yes. The 140T is a Class II device so you can daisy-chain two hubs operating at 100Mbps a maximum of 5m.

How do I get devices running at 10Mbps to talk to devices running at 100Mbps?

The 140T hub’s internal bridge allows 10Mbps and 100Mbps segments to communicate with each other automatically.

Can I set the speed on individual ports?

On the 140T hub, all ports are autosensing and operate at either 10Mbps or 100Mbps, depending on the speed of the attached device. You cannot force port speed.

Can I configure a full-duplex link from the 140T hub to another device?

No, because the ports on the 140T hub can only operate at half-duplex.

I’ve connected the cable but the Activity LED is off. Why?

Try removing the cable and plugging it in again. Wait up to six seconds for a link.

Make sure you’re using the right type of cable (straight-through or crossover) for the device you want to connect to. If you’re using the wrong cable, the link LED will not come on.

Check the speed and duplex settings on the PC’s network adapter.

The Activity LED is now blinking orange instead of green. Why?

The port is partitioned (auto-disabled). This condition is usually caused by a malfunctioning network adapter or an overloaded network segment. For more information, see page 4.

I keep getting an intermittent loss of link. Why?

• You may be using the wrong grade of cable. The wrong cable can cause erratic performance and you may eventually lose the connection between the port and the attached device.

• Make sure the device connected to the hub port is configured for half-duplex operation. Hubs operate at half-duplex only.

• A cable segment somewhere in your collision domain is too long. Make

sure none of your UTP cabling is longer than 100 meters.
