5. Operation

Once the ServSwitch™ Brand Fiber KVM Extender II or II-SM is installed and powered, it will perform keyboard/video/mouse extension to the remote site continuously. It will also perform ongoing keyboard/mouse switching if you have both local and remote user stations attached. The Extender will display these indications:

The Status LED on the front of the Local Unit will be steadily lit during normal operation; it will flash if no video signal is being received from the CPU.

The Status LED on the front of the Remote Unit will be steadily lit during normal operation; it will flash (and “NO SIGNAL” will appear on the remote monitor) if no video signal is being received from the Local Unit. (“NO FIBER LINK” will appear on the remote monitor if the Remote Unit is unable to detect the presence of the Local Unit at all. This might happen if the Local Unit loses power or the fiber cabling is disconnected or damaged.)
