7 Glossary

A

Antenna

A device, such as a rod or wire, which picks up a received radio frequency signal or radiates a transmitted RF signal.

ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee)

The Advanced Television Systems Committee, Inc., is an international, non-profit organization developing voluntary standards for digital television. The high definition television standards defined by the ATSC produce wide screen 16:9 images up to 1920x1080 pixels in size -- more than six times the display resolution of the earlier standard. However, many different image sizes are also supported, so that up to six standard-definition “virtual channels” can be broadcast on a single 6 MHz TV channel.

H

HDTV (High-Definition Television)

It is a digital television broadcasting system with higher resolution than traditional television systems (standard-definition TV, or SDTV). HDTV is digitally broadcast; the earliest implementations used analog broadcasting, but today digital television (DTV) signals are used, requiring less bandwidth due to digital video compression.

SDV3132/27, SDV3132 specifications

The Philips SDV3132 and SDV3132/27 are advanced indoor digital antennas designed to provide superior reception for over-the-air television signals. These models are particularly suited for urban environments and areas with strong broadcast signals, ensuring that users can enjoy high-definition channels without the hassles of cable subscriptions.

One of the standout features of the SDV3132 is its sleek and compact design, which allows it to be easily integrated into any home decor. The antenna's aesthetic appeal is complemented by its functional capabilities, as it can be placed on a shelf, mounted on a wall, or positioned near a window to maximize signal reception. The lightweight construction further enhances its versatility, making it a convenient choice for various living spaces.

Equipped with built-in amplification, the SDV3132 significantly improves signal strength and clarity. This amplification technology works by boosting weak signals, allowing users to access more channels and enjoy clearer picture quality. The antenna also includes a noise-reducing filter, which minimizes interference from other electronic devices, thereby enhancing the overall viewing experience.

The SDV3132 family features a multidirectional design, which means it can receive signals from various directions without the need for constant repositioning. This is particularly beneficial in areas where broadcast towers are not aligned in a single direction. The device supports both UHF and VHF signals, broadening the range of channels accessible to users and ensuring a comprehensive viewing experience.

Installation is made easy with the SDV3132 models, as they come with user-friendly instructions and all necessary hardware components. The antenna is compatible with most televisions that have a built-in digital tuner, and it can be connected via a standard coaxial cable. This straightforward setup process allows users to start enjoying their favorite channels in no time.

In summary, the Philips SDV3132 and SDV3132/27 are ideal solutions for those seeking an efficient, stylish, and reliable indoor antenna. With their advanced amplification technology, multidirectional capabilities, and easy installation, these models cater to the needs of modern viewers who want to cut cable costs while still enjoying high-quality television content.
