Installation requirements

To install the CD-RW/DVD drive, your computer must meet the following minimum requirements:

vThinkPad computer that has an Ultrabay 2000 drive bay, ThinkPad Dock, or ThinkPad UltraBase X2 media slice

v32 MB of Memory

vWindows 2000, Windows Millenium, Windows 98, Windows 95, or Windows NT 4.0 operating system

Note: Under Windows NT, the ThinkPad A21e cannot play back the contents of a DVD.

Installing the drive

Your ThinkPad computer includes an on-board help system, ThinkPad Assistant, that provides drive installation instructions specific to your computer. To correctly install the CD-RW/DVD drive into the Ultrabay 2000 drive bay in your ThinkPad computer, be sure to use the instructions given in the help system.

Locating the drive controls

The following diagram shows the location of the controls on the front of the drive.

Power light

This light is visible when drive is in use.

Eject button

Press this button to eject the DVD or CD when the drive is in use.
