Chapter 3: Installation
Connection Instructions
1Make sure all of the devices you will connect to the Switch are powered off.
2Connect a Category 5 Ethernet network cable to one of the numbered ports on the Switch.
Connect the Ethernet Network Cable
3Connect the other end of the Ethernet network cable to a computer or other network device.
4Repeat steps 2 and 3 to connect additional devices.
5If you are using a Gigabit port, connect a Category 5e network cable to a Gigabit port on the Switch, and connect the other end to a Gigabit server or other network device.
6If you are using a miniGBIC port, then connect a miniGBIC module to a miniGBIC port. For detailed instructions, refer to the module’s documentation.
NOTE: The miniGBIC ports are compatible with the MGBSX1, MGBLH1, and MGBT1.
7Connect the supplied power cord to the Switch’s power port. Plug the other end of the adapter into an electrical outlet.
8Power on the devices connected to the Switch. Each active port’s corresponding LED will light up on the Switch.
