3.. Conducting a Remote Session

To configure settings in Relative Mouse Position, OS-Specific mode:

1.Click on the icon in the remote session toolbar, and choose the Mouse Settings option. The Mouse Settings window appears.

2.Check the Relative Mouse Position, OS-Specificcheckbox. Additional settings appear that allow you to manually configure the mouse settings according to your Target Server’s OS and mouse type.

3.In the Operating System field, select your Target Server’s operating system from the drop-down menu. Instructions and slider bars appear on the screen according to the chosen operating system.

4.Configure these settings to match those shown in the Target Server’s Mouse Properties window. Note: If the mouse settings of the remote computer have ever been changed (even if they were changed and then returned to the original settings) uncheck the Default checkbox and edit the settings to match those of the Target Server.

5.Check the USB checkbox if the Target Server is connected with a B078-101-USB or B078-101-USB-1 SIU.

6.Click the Advanced button. The Advanced settings window appears.

7.The Advanced settings window allows you to select what type of mouse is connected to the local console port of the KVM. Select Standard Mouse when using a 2-button mouse or 2-button touchpad. Select Wheel Mouse for any mouse/touchpad with 3 or more buttons. Check the Microsoft Mouse checkbox if the mouse being used is made by Microsoft.

8.The Max Rate field in the Advanced settings window defines the maximum mouse report rate. A setting of Default is compatible with most operating systems. For older versions of Sun, use a Max Rate of 20.

9.Click the OK button to close out of the Advanced settings window and go back to the Mouse Settings window.

10.When you are done configuring all settings, click the OK button to close out of the Mouse Settings window. Upon moving the mouse in the remote session screen, the pointers should align. If needed, use the Align feature (see the Align section in this manual for details) of the Mouse drop-down in the toolbar.
