Connecting -compatible Components

With (Remote Interactive) you can control your - compatible Onkyo cassette tape deck or MD recorder with the CR-505’s remote controller, and use the following spe-

cial functions:

Auto Power On

When you turn on a component connected via while the CR-505 is in Standby, the CR-505 automatically turns on and selects that component as the input source.

This function doesn’t work if the CR-505 is already on.

Direct Change

When you press the play button on a component connected

via , the CR-505 automatically selects that component as the input source.

Auto Power Off

When you set the CR-505 to Standby, all components con-

nected via also enter Standby.

Controlling Other Components

To use , you need to connect the CR-505’s connec-

tor to an connector on the other component by using an

cable. An cable is supplied with each -compat- ible Onkyo cassette tape deck and MD recorder.

CD Synchro Recording

An MD recorder or cassette tape deck connected via , and set to record pause, will start recording automatically when CD playback is started on the CR-505.

Timer

The CR-505’s timers can be used to automatically start playback or recording on a cassette tape deck or MD

recorder connected via (see “Timers” on page 28).

When you set the CR-505’s sleep timer, the sleep timers on

component connected via are also set, so all compo- nents switch off after the specified period.

To use you must make an analog RCA/phono con- nection between the CR-505 and the other component even if they are connected digitally.

If a component has two connectors, you can connect either one to the CR-505. The other connector is for con-

necting additional -compatible components.

Connect the CR-505’s connector only to Onkyo components. Connecting to other manufacturer’s compo- nents may cause them to malfunction.

Some Onkyo -compatible components may not sup- port the special functions described above.
