The optimal application for the Switch, no matter with the ex- tension module or not, is as a "big pipe" backbone interconnecting file servers with bandwidth-hungry workgroups, departments, and offices.

In the figure, the FNSW-3200 links to another hub‘s Uplink (MDI-II) port, some ports connect to 100Mbps Workstations, and attached to file servers at 200Mbps.
