Innovative Design Lowers TCO While Redefining the Term "Thin Client"
EIZO, the brand of choice of business and graphics professionals seeking the highest quality display monitors, brings its technologi- cal expertise to the burgeoning Windows-based Terminal (WBT) market with its eClient series. The eClient blends EIZO's know- how in manufacturing top-of-the-line monitors with WBT technol- ogy for an innovative, simple, and cost effective thin client alterna- tive. The new additions to the eClient lineup are the eClient 531L, an integrated 15-inch LCD monitor-WBT unit, and the eClient 531LT-GR which also includes a touchscreen panel. These models contain the compact design, specifications, and flex- ibility to fulfill the thin client needs of almost any environment or application including general administration, point-of-sales, facto- ries, kiosks, and call centers.
With nearly all administrative and managerial tasks including soft- ware installation and upgrade handled on the server, WBTs offer an economical and practical alternative to desktop PCs.
EIZO takes the simplicity and cost effectiveness of standard WBTs one step further by combining the display and terminal into one compact, hassle-free unit. The result is an attractive, space efficient design with the WBT so seamlessly integrated into the monitor that the eClient appears to be a standard LCD moni- tor. At a depth of less than 17 cm the eClient minimizes footprint so users can maximize desktop space. IT managers will appreciate this all-in-one arrangement with its lower total cost of ownership (TCO) alternative to acquiring the WBT and display separately. Furthermore, users no longer have to sacrifice desktop or floor space to accommodate a separate thin client terminal or the exter- nal power unit common with many LCD monitors. Setup of the eClient is almost effortless; just connect the LAN cable and the single power cord and the unit is ready for operation.

Advanced Design Blends Performance and Value
The eClient's 15-inch active matrix TFT LCD is uniquely designed for environments where performance as well as a compact design is essential. Specifications include a resolution of 1024 dots
×768 lines, 0.297 mm pixel pitch, 300:1 contrast ratio, and a 200 cd/m2 brightness level. Total weight with the stand included is only 5.0 kg.
The eClient produces sharp, clear pictures free from flicker, unstable brightness, and poor contrast so users can work for long hours without eye fatigue, stress, and headaches. The single unit design of the eClient assures the interface between the mother- board and LCD panel remains purely digital.
The CPU is MIPS compatible 64 bit Reduce Instruction Set Com- puter (RISC) with a speed of 168 MHz. It also contains 16 MB of flash memory and 32 MB of SDRAM. The eClient includes a PS/2 keyboard and two button mouse, and provides local printer sup- port with a parallel port. The unit does not utilize a fan or other moving parts so operation is virtually silent.
Network Administrator Software for Fast Deployment, Easy Management
The optional proprietary Network Administrator software allows systems administrators to configure and maintain each client indi- vidually and from a remote location.
Serial Port for Increased Usage Options
A serial port (RS-232C) adds connection flexibility through peripheral support. By attaching a modem, remote users can access the network from any location through a dial-up or dial-in connection. With a barcode scanner, the eClient can serve as a ter- minal for inventory and production
control. Using an IC card reader | VESA Compliant |

Touchscreen Support with the eClient 531LT-GR
While delivering the same high level of performance as its coun- terpart, the eClient 531LT-GR incorporates an analog resis- tive type panel that accepts both finger and pen touch input and has a typical transparency rate of 79%. This is the per- fect solution for factories, kiosks, point of sales, and other environments that require not only the network capabili-
ty and low maintenance of WBTs, but also the option of simple data input available only with a touchscreen monitor.
Windows 2000 Ready
With support for Microsoft® Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) 5.0, the eClient operates with not only Microsoft Windows® NT™ Terminal Server Edition 4.0 but also the Windows
2000 Server series for a more efficient serv- er/client environment.
WBT Standard 1.5 and ICA Client
6.0 Included
Based on the new
WBT Standard 1.5, the eClient deliv- ers faster processing and graphics per- formance for overall improved man- ageability and efficiency.
In conjunction with Citrix® Meta- Frame™ 1.8, Feature Release 1, the bundled Citrix Independent Computing Architecture (ICA) Client 6.0 provides various per- formance enhancements such
as 16-bit color to raise the eClient's maximum number of displayable colors to 65,536 and 128-bit encryption for increased security.
Free Mount Capability and Portrait Mode
Especially useful in space constrained environ- ments, the eClient's detachable panel provides a way to reclaim 100% of the desktop. Once mount- ed on an arm, the eClient supports portrait mode for full page viewing of text documents and web
sites.
Low Energy Consumption
Designed for maximum energy savings, the eClient con- sumes only 30 watts of power during normal operation. This is about half the power used by a stand alone termi- nal and monitor, making it one of the most energy efficient WBT solutions on the market today and further lowering long term TCO. For additional reduction in electric and cool-
ing costs and prevention of unnecessary use of the LCD's back- light, the eClient enters a power saving mode during periods of inactivity where power consumption drops to less than 5 watts.
