Functional Description
The 232OPDR is a DIN Rail mountable RS-232 optical isolator. It provides 2KV isolation for four RS-232 signal lines, two in each direction. The isolator has four LED’s to show data flow and one LED to indicate power. Connections are made to a terminal block. The 232OPDR is ideal for industrial environments. The 2000 V isolation provides protection for computer equipment from ground loops and induced currents caused by lightning, heavy equipment, or high voltage power lines. Additionally, the isolator can act as a repeater to extend RS-232 signals beyond 50 feet. The signal lines support either two data lines in each direction, or one data line and one handshake line in each direction.
