Product Summary

Advanced technology of the order found in the Matrix series could only have originated in what is generally regarded as one of the most advanced loudspeaker research laboratories in Europe. Computer Aided Design has been utilised to develop the range enabling the engineers to simulate the building of woofers and tweeters, predicting performance. Matrix cabinet bracing provides an inspired answer to the adverse effect which the monitor cabinet can have on sound quality. The loudspeakers are finished in a choice of real wood veneers.

The Matrix 1 Series 2 comprises one 6-in bass/midrange drive unit with polypropylene cone and one 1-in metal dome tweeter high frequency tweeter.

Laser interferometry was used to identify distortion by measuring extremely small movements. As a good indicator of unwanted cabinet resonances, this technique played a crucial part in determining Matrix technology employed in the series 2.

Technical highlights

B&W's Tweeter technology ensures that the sound remains focused and time sensitive and that the stereo image is presented with unparalleled three dimensional accuracy.

Driver protection: The method used for driver protection against excessive overload is simplicity itself. Once dangerous input levels are reached the patent APOC circuit disconnects the tweeter alerting the listener to reduce the volume.

Simplified crossovers: In sophisticated loudspeaker technology it is true to say that the fewer crossover components there are the better. Crossovers are no exception. In the Series 2, by reducing the number, signal is given a more direct path to the drive units. This has only become possible because the drivers themselves are more linear and also cleaner in their reproduction and therefore needs less correction than was necessary in the original crossover design.

1 Series2 specifications

Bowers & Wilkins is a name synonymous with high-fidelity sound and innovative audio technology. The Bowers & Wilkins 1 Series2 speakers exemplify this legacy, delivering a premium listening experience for audiophiles and casual listeners alike.

At the heart of the 1 Series2 is the proprietary tweeter design, which features a decoupled, double-dome structure. This technology minimizes distortion and ensures a clear, crisp high-frequency response, allowing listeners to enjoy subtle details in their music that might otherwise go unnoticed. The tweeter's design contributes to a wide soundstage, creating an immersive audio environment that draws the listener in.

The bass performance of the 1 Series2 is equally impressive. Equipped with a powerful woofer, these speakers deliver deep, resonant low frequencies without muddying the overall sound quality. Bowers & Wilkins has implemented a Flowport technology in the design, which optimizes airflow and reduces turbulence, providing precise bass response. This feature means that even at high volumes, the bass remains tight and controlled, ensuring a balanced listening experience across various genres of music.

One of the most appealing characteristics of the 1 Series2 is its versatility. Ideal for both stereo setups and home theater systems, this speaker can be easily integrated into various configurations, making it a great addition to any audio system. Whether mounted on a stand, shelf, or wall, the 1 Series2 combines aesthetic elegance with modern design, complementing any room décor.

Durability and build quality are also priorities for Bowers & Wilkins. The 1 Series2 speakers are constructed from high-quality materials that ensure longevity while enhancing acoustic performance. The cabinet is designed to minimize resonance, further improving sound clarity.

Connectivity options are robust, accommodating a range of audio sources. Users can connect the speakers to their home systems easily, supporting both wired and wireless connections.

In summary, the Bowers & Wilkins 1 Series2 is a remarkable achievement in audio engineering. With its exquisite sound quality, innovative technologies, and versatile applications, it stands out as a top choice for anyone seeking to elevate their audio experience. Whether for casual listening or critical listening, the 1 Series2 promises to deliver a captivating sound that resonates with listeners.
