Security

Dell offers several means of physically protecting the notebook, hard disk drive and docking solutions against theft.

Latitude Security lock slot: The Latitude X300 includes a slot opening on the back left side of the unit, which helps secure the notebook to desk when in use. The MediaBase also provides a security lock slot.

Authentication ensures that only authorised users gain access to the notebook or hard disk drive data. Dell has taken a multi-level approach designed to help ensure authentication.

System Primary Password: The user must enter his or her password upon booting up the notebook.

Administrator Password: Designed to give system administrators or service technicians access to computers for service or repair. The administrator password is beneficial if the user forgets the system primary password.
