System Considerations

Amplifier Requirements

Turbosound loudspeaker enclosures should be driven by high quality power amplifiers designed for true professional use. Such amplifiers will have balanced inputs, DC and RF fault protection, and well designed cooling systems for reliability.

For low impedance systems the ‘program’ power, listed in the loudspeaker’s technical specification, is the best guide to the size of amplifier required for general purpose applications. The amplifier should be capable of delivering long term broadband power equal to the loudspeaker’s program power rating at the loudspeaker’s stated nominal impedance. This approach allows sufficient headroom to generate good dynamic range.

RECOMMENDED AMPLIFIER POWER RATINGS:

The amplifier's rated r.m.s. continuous power output (20Hz – 20kHz, per

channel) should be equal to the program power handling of the

loudspeaker at its nominal impedance.

It should be understood that overdriving an insufficiently powered amplifier is more likely to cause loudspeaker damage – the total energy in a heavily clipped signal is far higher than in an unclipped signal – than operating a more powerful amplifier within its ratings. In general, the more powerful the amplifier the better it will sound, provided that it is not also driven into sustained clipping.

All the equipment in the system before the system controller should be set up for 0dBV (775mV) maximum output. One controller can be used to feed several amplifiers as long as all the amplifiers are the same (or have the same gain ratings). More than one controller may be required if the amplifiers are of different gain or type. Please contact your dealer if you require help in this area.

In a distributed system the amplifiers must be capable of supplying broadband power equivalent to the sum of the power rating of the loudspeakers (taking into account the individual power taps selected) connected to that particular amplifier channel.

Turbosound recommends the T-series amplifiers for use with the TCS Compact series system.

TCS-C50T specifications

The Turbosound TCS-C50T is a cutting-edge ceiling speaker designed for a wide range of commercial applications, providing an outstanding combination of clarity, quality, and durability. Ideal for venues such as restaurants, shopping malls, airports, and office buildings, the TCS-C50T delivers audio performance that meets the demanding requirements of both music and speech intelligibility.

At the heart of the TCS-C50T is its 5-inch low-frequency driver, which is complemented by a 1-inch high-frequency compression driver. This woofer-tweeter configuration allows the speaker to reproduce clear and detailed sound across a wide frequency range. The high-frequency driver is equipped with a waveguide that enhances dispersion, ensuring that audio is evenly spread throughout the space, making it particularly effective in larger areas.

One of the standout features of the TCS-C50T is its robust construction. The speaker is housed in a durable ABS enclosure, which not only contributes to its longevity but also helps reduce resonance and unwanted coloration of the sound. This design feature makes the TCS-C50T suitable for various environments, whether it’s a high-traffic installation or a more intimate setting.

The TCS-C50T further incorporates a split grille design, which can be painted to match the interior décor, allowing for a seamless integration into any environment. This level of customization is vital for designers and facility managers who aim for aesthetic harmony without sacrificing audio quality.

In terms of installation, the Turbosound TCS-C50T features a simple and efficient mounting system. The speaker is equipped with an integrated mounting bracket that allows for quick and easy installation in ceiling grids or directly to the ceiling surface. This user-friendly design makes it a preferred choice for contractors and system integrators looking to streamline the installation process.

Moreover, the TCS-C50T utilizes a low-impedance design, allowing for easy connection and optimal performance with standard audio systems. The speaker's high power handling capability ensures that it can handle dynamic audio levels without distortion, making it suitable for everything from soft background music to more demanding audio applications.

Overall, the Turbosound TCS-C50T stands out as an exceptional ceiling speaker that combines superior sound quality, versatile installation options, and robust build quality, making it an ideal choice for various commercial audio solutions.
