4.Connect the AC power cord to the power supply AC inlet. Be sure to use the heavy-duty cord supplied with your PSU.

5.PCI-E graphics cards use different amounts of power. For some, a single 6-pin connector is sufficient, making the hardwired connector the preferred choice. More powerful cards use multiple connectors, including the advanced 8-pin PCI-E connector. The 8-pin PCI-E connector on the PSU can be used as either a 6- or 8-pin connector.

6.Hard drives, optical drives (CD/DVD/BluRay™) and other accessories will use either the older 4-pin Molex connector or the newer 15-pin SATA connector. 4-pin Molex connectors have two black, one yellow and one red wire. The SATA connector has an additional orange power wire.

7.When you have all the connections secured, turn the switch on the PSU to the “” position.

EA-550 specifications

The Antec EA-550 is a reliable power supply unit (PSU) that stands out in the competitive world of PC components, offering a robust combination of performance, efficiency, and features tailored for both casual users and gaming enthusiasts. This power supply is designed to meet a variety of build requirements, whether for basic office tasks or high-performance gaming rigs.

One of the key features of the Antec EA-550 is its 80 PLUS Bronze certification. This accreditation ensures that the unit operates with a minimum efficiency of 82% at typical loads and 85% at maximum load. The efficiency of the PSU translates to less wasted energy, lower operational costs, and decreased heat generation, which is essential for maintaining optimal internal temperatures within a computer case. This is particularly advantageous for gamers and users who prioritize performance while being environmentally conscious.

The EA-550 is constructed with high-quality components, including Japanese capacitors which improve durability and longevity. This attention to component quality not only enhances stability but also provides the user with peace of mind regarding the reliability of their power supply over an extended period.

Moreover, the Antec EA-550 features a powerful single +12V rail design that is capable of delivering up to 550 watts of power. This makes it suitable for a wide range of system configurations, including those with multiple graphics cards or extensive storage options. The single rail design also simplifies load distribution across connected components, ensuring that everything receives adequate power.

In terms of connectivity, the Antec EA-550 is well-equipped with multiple PCIe connectors, Molex connectors, and SATA connectors, offering flexibility in system design. This means users can easily connect various components such as graphics cards, SSDs, and HDDs without any hassle. The modular cabling system ensures that only the necessary cables are used, promoting better airflow within the case and reducing cable clutter.

Additionally, with its low-noise operation, the EA-550 is designed with a quiet 120mm fan that utilizes a smart temperature control system. This fan adjusts its speed based on the internal temperature of the power supply, ensuring efficient cooling while minimizing noise.

In summary, the Antec EA-550 power supply presents an appealing option for a wide array of users and builds. With its 80 PLUS Bronze efficiency rating, quality components, robust power output, and user-friendly connectivity options, it is a solid choice for anyone looking to build a dependable and efficient PC system.
