Connect the Display

Your computer uses one of two different connectors for the display. The HDMI connector is a high performance digital connector that carries both video and audio signals for displays such as TVs and monitors with integrated speakers. The DVI connector is also a high performance digital connector, but it does

not carry an audio signal. This connector can be used for displays such as monitors and projectors that do not have speakers.

Check your TV or monitor to see which type of connectors are available. Refer to the following table when identifying the connectors on your display to select the connection type you will use.

DVI

HDMI

DVI

Connect the display using ONLY ONE of the following connectors: the white DVI connector or the HDMI connector.

NOTE: The HDMI will not have a display signal if both a DVI and an HDMI cables are connected because the DVI connector has priority over the HDMI connector.

Connect Using the DVI Connector

Connect the display using a DVI cable (which usually has white connectors at both ends).

If your display already has a VGA cable (with blue connectors at both ends) connected to your display, disconnect the VGA cable and use a DVI cable.

If your display only has a VGA connector, use a VGA cable with the VGA-to-DVI adapter (white plug) included with your computer.
