or other objects

Do not cover the driver side of the subwoofer or place the subwoofer so that there is less than 10 centimeters (4") of free space in front of the grille.

Make sure that the space underneath the subwoofer is clear from obstructions. Thick carpets may block the ventilation clearance needed for cooling the amplifier unit.

The reflex port side (opposite of the con- nector panel side) should always have a clearance of at least 7,5 centimeters (3") to any objects to ensure proper functioning of the reflex port.

Flush mounting the subwoofer

If the subwoofer is flush mounted into a wall or a cabinet, it is important to ensure ampli- fier cooling and unrestricted airflow from the reflex port. This can be done by making the recess 7,5 centimeters (3") wider than the

Setting the input sensitivity

The 7050A is set to the same sensitivity as the 1029A/2029A/2029B monitors in free field conditions. However, when placed near reflecting surfaces the sensitivity typically needs to be attenuated due to increased room loading. A typical starting point would be -4 dB. This is achieved by adjusting the rotary level control on the amplifier plate. The use of proper measuring equipment together with careful listening is highly recommended. The maximum attenuation is -18 dB.

Safety considerations

Genelec 7050A subwoofer has been designed in accordance with international safety stand- ards. However, to ensure safe operation and maintain the unit in safe operating condition, the following warnings and cautions must be observed:

Do not expose the subwoofer to water or moisture. Do not place

service personnel.

Always use a mains power

connection with protective earth.

Failing to do this may lead

to personal injury.

Warning!

This equipment is capable of delivering sound pressure levels in excess of 85dB, which may cause permanent hearing damage.

Maintenance

No user serviceable parts are inside the amplifier unit. Any maintenance of the unit must only be performed by qualified service personnel.

7050A specifications

The Genelec 7050A is a compact subwoofer that has become a staple in both professional audio studios and home listening environments. Renowned for its exceptional performance and reliability, the 7050A provides deep, accurate bass reproduction that enhances any audio production setup. This subwoofer is designed to seamlessly integrate with Genelec's range of studio monitors, making it an ideal choice for those seeking to achieve a complete and balanced sound field.

At the core of the 7050A's performance is its advanced technology, which includes a 10-inch woofer powered by a highly efficient Class D amplifier. The combination of a robust amplifier and high-quality driver ensures controlled bass response with minimal distortion, even at high volume levels. This feature is particularly beneficial for mixing and mastering applications, where clarity and precision in the low frequencies are crucial.

One of the standout characteristics of the Genelec 7050A is its ability to adapt to different acoustic environments. The subwoofer is equipped with Genelec’s proprietary Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS) technology, which allows it to automatically enter a low-power standby mode when not in use, conserving energy without compromising performance. This innovation is especially useful for long mixing sessions or when the studio is not in active use.

Furthermore, the 7050A features innovative room correction capabilities through its advanced acoustic design. The subwoofer is equipped with a built-in microphone that can measure the acoustics of the environment, allowing for optimal adjustments to ensure a balanced bass response regardless of location. This technology helps prevent common issues such as phase cancellation and frequency anomalies, resulting in a more accurate sound reproduction.

Connectivity is another highlight of the Genelec 7050A. It provides multiple input options, including balanced XLR connectors, which enable easy integration with various audio sources and mixing consoles. Additionally, the subwoofer allows users to customize the crossover frequency to suit their specific monitoring needs, ensuring compatibility with different monitor systems.

Overall, the Genelec 7050A subwoofer encapsulates an exceptional blend of advanced technology, innovative design, and practical features that cater to audio professionals and enthusiasts alike.
