SPECIFICATIONS SM12

A & E SPECIFICATIONS

The two-way full range loudspeaker system shall incorporate a 12-in LF transducer and a 3-in voice coil/1.4-in exit neodymium compression driver. Powering mode is bi-amplified.

The LF driver shall be mounted in a vented enclosure tuned for optimum low frequency response. The HF driver shall be loaded on a constant directivity horn with a nominal coverage pattern of 40° (h) x 60° (v).

System frequency response shall vary no more than ±3 dB from 60 Hz to 17 kHz measured on axis. The LF shall produce a Sound Pressure Level (SPL) of 98 dB SPL on axis at 1 meter with a power input of 1 Watt, and the HF shall be capable of producing an output of 110 SPL on axis at 1 meter with a power input of 1 Watt. The LF shall handle 700 Watts of ampli- fier power (continuous) and the HF shall handle 200 Watts of amplifier power. Both shall have a nominal impedance of 8 Ohms.

The loudspeaker enclosure shall be irregularly triangular in shape with its baffle angled up 53°. It shall be constructed of multi-ply, void-free cross-grain-laminated Baltic birch ply- wood and shall employ extensive internal bracing. It shall be finished in wear-resistant textured black paint. Input connec- tors shall be 4x Neutrik NL4 Speakon (2 per side). The front of the loudspeaker shall be covered with a powder coated per- forated steel grille backed with open cell foam to protect against dust.

The two-way full range loudspeaker shall be the EAW model SM12.

SM12 specifications

The EAW SM12 is a high-performance loudspeaker designed to deliver exceptional sound quality and reliability for a variety of professional audio applications. Renowned for its versatility, the SM12 is suitable for everything from live sound reinforcement to permanent installations in venues such as theaters, concert halls, and clubs.

One of the key features of the EAW SM12 is its twelve-inch woofer, which provides a robust low-frequency response. This driver is specifically engineered to deliver powerful bass while maintaining clarity across the frequency spectrum. The high-frequency section is handled by a compression driver coupled with a carefully designed waveguide. This combination ensures even dispersion of sound across the listening area, reducing the likelihood of feedback and improving overall audio quality.

The cabinet of the SM12 is constructed from durable plywood, finished with a rugged coating to withstand the rigors of touring and installation. Its design incorporates multiple rigging points, allowing for flexible mounting options, whether in a horizontal or vertical orientation. This adaptability makes the SM12 a popular choice for both front-of-house and monitor applications.

In terms of technology, the EAW SM12 features advanced drivers that employ professional-grade materials for enhanced performance. The crossover network is engineered for optimal frequency distribution, ensuring that each driver operates within its most efficient range. This attention to detail results in a coherent sound stage that delivers vocals and instruments with pinpoint accuracy.

The SM12 is also designed with user-friendliness in mind. The inputs are strategically placed for easy access, allowing sound engineers to quickly connect and configure the system. Its compact form factor means it can fit into tight spaces without sacrificing audio quality or output.

Overall, the EAW SM12 stands out with its impressive combination of power, clarity, and versatility. Whether used in a live performance setting or a fixed installation, it provides a reliable and high-fidelity sound solution that professionals trust. With its blend of excellent build quality and innovative technology, the SM12 continues to be a preferred choice for audio engineers around the globe. Its capacity to handle various audio formats and environments makes it an essential tool for modern sound reinforcement.
