7.Right-click your Ethernet adapter and click the Properties button to open the Properties dialog box for the Ethernet Controller.

Note: The name of your Ethernet adapter may vary from system to system.

8.Click the General tab in the Device Usage drop-down field of the Properties dialog box, then select Do not use this device in the current hardware profile (disable).

Note: In the Device Manager window, an X is displayed over the icon of the Ethernet Controller.

9.Click OK to close the Ethernet Controller Properties dialog box, click the X button at the top right-hand corner to close the Device Manager window, then click OK to close the System Properties window.

Both hardware profiles are configured as follows:

The original configuration contains all of the hardware present in your Notebook and should be used when the network is accessed directly through the built-in Ethernet Controller.

The No Ethernet configuration has the built-in Ethernet Controller hardware turned off. This profile is used whenever the Ethernet controller is not connected

to a network.
