
Appendix B: Creating a Playlist
A playlist tells the Adapter to play your music files in a specific sequence. You can use a playlist with either of these file extensions, .M3U and .ASX.
You can use any software that exports a playlist with one of these two exten- sions. For example, Windows Media Player is included with Windows XP. Follow these instructions to create a playlist in Windows Media Player:
1.Open Windows Media Player on the host computer.
2.Click Media Library.
3.Click File and then Open to find MP3 files on your computer.
4.Click New Playlist.
5.Enter a name for the Playlist, and click the OK button. The new Playlist appears on the left.
6.Select the songs you want, and drag them to the Playlist’s name on the left.
7.Drag and drop the songs to arrange them in the order you want them to play.
Note: You must place any playlist and its music files in a shared media folder for use by the Adapter.
Follow these instructions to export a playlist to a file:
1.Select Playlist.
2.Click File and then Export Playlist to File.
3.Enter a file name, and click Save.
4.Place the Playlist in a shared folder.
Appendix C: Setting a Static IP Address on Your PC
If you need to set a static IP address on your Windows XP computer, then use the following instructions.
1.If your computer uses the default interface, then click the Start button. Click Connect To and then Show all connections. See Figure
If your computer uses the Classic interface, then click the Start button. Click Settings and then Network Connections. See Figure
