Through the proper use of the RTS/CTS Threshold setting, you can fine tune the operation of your wireless LAN. If you find a relatively large number of collisions, you can enable RTS/CTS by setting a specific packet size threshold of 0 to 2347 bytes. If the packet that the access point is transmitting is larger than the threshold, it initiates the RTS/CTS function. If you do not have any hidden nodes, then the use of RTS/CTS only increases the amount of overhead which reduces throughput.
