HEADPHONE THEATER*

When you connect your headphone to the PHONES jack of the system, the HEADPHONE THEATER mode allows you to experience a theatre like environment while listening through a pair of headphones. This mode is very effective with 5.1 ch discreet signal sources such as Dolby Digital and DTS. Selecting any Sound Field selections (except AUTO FORMAT DECODING or 2CH STEREO) enables the mode.

*“VIRTUAL” sound field: Sound field with virtual speakers.

Adjusting the level parameters

The level menu contains parameters that let you adjust the balance and speaker volumes of each speaker (page 26).

1 Start playing a programme source encoded with multichannel surround sound.

Notes

The effects provided by the virtual speakers may cause increased noise in the playback signal.

When listening to sound fields that employ the virtual speakers, you will not be able to hear any sound coming directly from the rear speakers.

If you select AUTO FORMAT DECODING or 2CH STEREO when the headphones are connected,

2 channel stereo is output. If any other sound field is selected, it is automatically changed to the HEADPHONE THEATER mode.

2 Press AMP MENU repeatedly on the remote.

9LEVEL appears on the front panel display.

3 Sit in your listening position and select the item to be adjusted using X/x.

4 Adjust the volume level using C/c.

The adjusted value will appear on the front panel display. If you do not operate the remote for a few seconds, the value turns off and is stored in the system.
